Deer
Deer are very powerful, nervous animals, and can cause
injury by kicking or bucking. They should only ever be handled by
experienced personnel. Once you have established that a deer is in
need of assistance contact your local wildlife rescue centre

When to assist
The deer has been hit by a car
Any deer that has been hit
by a car should be covered with a blanket until an experienced handler
arrives. The head should be covered to reduce stress. Do not try to
drag the animal off the road, as this can cause extreme agony for the
deer and further injuries. Telephone 100 Acre Wood Rehabilitation,
Inc.
Animal can be approached
Deer are naturally suspicious of people and will
run away when they see you.
Leg appears damaged
Needs medical
attention. However, deer with only one leg damaged are extremely
difficult to catch as they can still run very fast.
Dragging both
hind legs
Can indicate a spinal or pelvic injury. The

immediately
